After effects reflection clean up

Today I was working on a shot of the front of the car in my short film. The shot showed me in the reflection of the front of the grill, as one can see in the video below. As I was unable to get the perfect shot without the reflection being a problem, I was left to figure out a way of removing the reflection from the chrome using after effects. My idea initial idea was to use color correction to the areas of chrome. This I did by animating an adjustment layer to the specific areas using the pen tool and following frame by frame, adjusting the layer to the image. After doing this I added the color correction which included human saturation and the curves. I turned the saturation very low to remove the color, which was primarily coming from the grass etc. which turned into almost black and white. In addition to this I increased the brightness which helped to remove more of the image and make it look like chrome reflection. Unfortunately at this point it still showed parts of the reflection. In order to remove this I added a camera lens blur to the adjustment layers.  Above you can see that there is a print screen of me working on the adjustment layers.
